2009 Sustainability Awards Winners

2009 City of Lakewood Sustainability Awards

The City of Lakewood's Comprehensive Plan defines community sustainability as "the process of creating balance among the environment, the economy and society to ensure that practices and decisions do not compromise the quality of life for future generations."

The City established the Sustainability Awards program in 2008 to recognize members of the Lakewood community who are leading the way to a more sustainable future.

This year, in addition to the Community Sustainability and the Eco-Employee award categories, the City has added a "Defender of the Planet" youth category and a Mayor's Award to recognize individuals in our community who are keeping Lakewood green.

Residents, businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, individuals and schools in the City of Lakewood are eligible to be nominated for awards.
