A RESOLUTION

AMENDING RESOLUTION 2007-48, AS AMENDED, CONCERNING THE ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, by Resolution 2007-48, the City Council created an Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community and abolished four previously created advisory commissions, namely the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission, the Heritage, Culture and the Arts Commission, the Commission on Cultural Diversity and Human Relations, and the Youth Commission; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 2007-48 was amended by Resolution 2008-49 to more accurately describe the structure of the Advisory Commission, and specifically to refer to the nine subcommittees as “committees”; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 2007-48 was further amended by Resolution 2008-85 to expand the Executive Committee to twelve members and to change the name of the Historic Landmark Committee to the Historic Preservation Committee; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Resolution 2007-48 by the addition of a new Section 8 to allow for children under the age of eighteen years of age to serve on the Youth Committee.  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado that:

SECTION 1.  Resolution 2007-48 is hereby amended by the addition of a new Section 8 to read in full as follows:

Of the 60 Commissioners of the Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community, there may be some Commissioners appointed to serve on the Youth Committee. The members of the Youth Committee may be under eighteen years of age and shall serve a term of one year and may be reappointed for two additional terms.

SECTION 2.   Except as amended by this Resolution, Resolution 2008-49, and Resolution 2008-85, all other provisions of Resolution 2007-48 shall remain in full force and effect.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on April 13, 2009, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
