REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
ORDINANCE: O-2009-26
SUBJECT: Repeal Chapter 17-20 of the Lakewood Municipal Code titled Article 20: Rooney Valley Overlay District Development Standards.
ADDRESS: 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood CO 80226
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance repealing Chapter 17-20 of the Lakewood Municipal Code titled Article 20: Rooney Valley Overlay District Development Standards. The Planning Commission by a vote of 7 to 0 endorsed the Ordinance at its April 15, 2009 meeting.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Town of Morrison and City of Lakewood covers a majority of the Lakewood properties within the Rooney Valley, except for the Tamarisk Subdivisions, municipally owned land south of West Alameda Parkway, and that portion of Robinson Brick property not within the IGA boundaries. The Joint Project Review Committee (JPRC) adopted the Joint Rooney Valley Development Standards on March 10, 2009. Therefore, there are two sets of development standards overlaying City properties within the IGA boundary. The repeal of Chapter 17-20 of the Lakewood Municipal Code titled Article 20: Rooney Valley Overlay District Development Standards in its entirety would eliminate this overlap of development standards. Those portions of the Rooney Valley within the City that will no longer be covered by development standards are either developed, municipal properties, or will need to provide or adopt development standards at the time of development.
