SUBJECT: Clarifying the application of the Fair Campaign Practices Act to municipal elections in the City of Lakewood.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
In February of 2009, the Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community’s Business Committee, presented to the City Council Officers, among other things, recommendations to clarify the City of Lakewood’s position on the Fair Campaign Practices Act. The City Council Officers agreed with the Committee’s recommendations, which included applying the statutory provisions on campaign finance to municipal elections in Lakewood. The attached Ordinance reflects those clarifications.
