ORDINANCE: O-2009-10
SUBJECT: Repeal Chapter 2.03 of the Municipal Code to conform to State law.
RECOMMENDATION: City Council approve the proposed ordinance.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
C.R.S. §1-45-110 generally requires candidates in state elections to file Personal Financial Disclosure Statements, but also states that, in lieu of filing a Personal Financial Disclosure Statement, any candidate in a municipal election can satisfy the statutory requirement by filing a Candidate Affidavit stating that he or she is familiar with § 1-45-110. Chapter 2.03 of the Municipal Code still requires Personal Financial Disclosure Statements, even though candidates in municipal elections are exempt from that requirement under state law.
