RFCA - O-2009-3 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2009-3

SUBJECT: Ordinance authorizing the City to convey an easement for a new water line and an existing water line to Bancroft Clover Water and Sanitation District across Belmar Park at two different locations.

ADDRESS: 801 South Wadsworth Boulevard.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this ordinance authorizing conveyance of the easements to Bancroft Clover Water and Sanitation District.

FUNDING SOURCE: N/A

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood has been asked by Bancroft Clover Water and Sanitation District to convey an easement for a new water line across Belmar Park (see Parcel 1 on the attached map). This easement would allow the District to connect the existing water line that is located in West Kentucky Avenue, which is a street that runs along the south side of the park, to an existing water line that is located in Belmar Park. The construction of this water line will complete the loop for the water line between West Kentucky Avenue and Belmar Park. This will better serve the adjoining neighborhoods to the park if the water line ever has to be shut down due to repairs. The District is also asking the City to convey an easement to it for an existing water line that was constructed a number of years ago that crosses the park at the Southwest corner of the park (see Parcel 2 on said attached map). Community Resources staff has reviewed this request and have no concerns.
