RESOLUTION: 2008-55
SUBJECT: Approval to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the City of Lakewood and The Regional Transportation District for the Oak Street Light Rail Station Plaza enhancements and the design of the fence located between the Oak Street Light Rail Station and the adjacent Gambro property.
ADDRESS: Oak Street Light Rail Station.
RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Planning and Development recommends Council approval to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of Lakewood and The Regional Transportation District (RTD) for the purpose of the design and construction of the Oak Street Light Rail Station.
FUNDING SOURCES: The City of Lakewood will secure local funds.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood has developed and adopted a Station Area Plan for the area adjacent to the Oak Street Light Rail Station. To assist with achieving the desired vision of the Plan and to encourage quality development, the City of Lakewood wishes to enhance the station plaza and adjacent fence design at this location. The City of Lakewood has obtained the services of a professional design firm to design the Oak Street Station alternative design ("Betterment Plan").
The Regional Transportation District has indicated it will support an alternative design of the plaza and adjacent fence located between the Oak Street Light Rail Station and Gambro pursuant to an intergovernmental agreement that outlines the scope of services and responsibilities for each party.
