RFCA - R-2008-50 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2008-50

SUBJECT: Contract with Colorado Code Consulting, L.L.C. to review building plans for the St. Anthony West hospital project

RECOMMENDATION: Approval

FUNDING SOURCE: All costs will be recovered from the hospital.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: City staff normally reviews building plans for compliance with the City's building codes. The hospital project will include systems unique to hospitals and structural components not often seen in Lakewood, and will occur in a short timeframe. Utilizing a qualified consultant for the technical review is the most appropriate method to ensure the design is consistent with the City's codes and is completed in a timely manner.

Colorado Code Consulting was selected as the most qualified and available firm for the project. The fee paid to Colorado Code Consulting will be approximately 75% of the total plan check fee collected from the hospital and will not exceed $300,000. The amount collected from the hospital will be the normal fees determined by the City Council approved building plan review fee schedule.
