A RESOLUTION

AMENDING RESOLUTION 2007-48, AS AMENDED, CONCERNING THE ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, Section 4.5 of the City of Lakewood Charter provides that the City Council may create or abolish citizen advisory committees by resolution; and

WHEREAS, by Resolution 2007-48, the City Council created an Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community and abolished four previously created advisory commissions, namely the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission, the Heritage, Culture and the Arts Commission, the Commission on Cultural Diversity and Human Relations, and the Youth Commission; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 2007-48 also created nine "subcommittees" composed of members of the Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community; and

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Resolution 2007-48 to more accurately describe the structure of the Advisory Commission, and specifically to refer to the nine subcommittees as "committees."

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado that:

SECTION 1. Section 3 of Resolution 2007-48 is hereby amended to read in full as follows:

The Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community shall be composed of 60 appointed commissioners and shall consist of nine committees which shall meet on an as-needed basis. The nine committees are:

Parks, Trails and Open Space
Public Arts and Culture
Environment
Historic Landmark
Youth
Seniors
Neighborhoods
Business
Diversity Education

SECTION 2. Section 4 of Resolution 2007-48 is hereby amended to read in full as follows:

The Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community shall meet monthly, unless cancelled for cause by a vote of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will consist of one representative from each committee. The Commission, as a whole, will elect a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary from the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will work closely with the Commission Coordinator/Advisor for assignments and guidance on Council requests for advice.

SECTION 3. Section 5 of Resolution 2007-48 is hereby amended to read in full as follows:

The Executive Committee shall relay Council assignments to each committee and ensure appropriate action/follow-up. At least one member of the Executive Committee shall attend each regular meeting and study session of the City Council in order to better understand the policy group that they are advising. The Executive Committee shall prepare and present an annual report to City Council in January of each year at a televised City Council meeting and shall create an annual operating budget based on funding level provided by City Council.

SECTION 4. Section 6 of Resolution 2007-48 is hereby amended to read in full as follows:

The City Council shall have the authority to create or abolish committees of the Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community, as needs change, by resolution.

SECTION 5. Except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of Resolution 2007-48 shall remain in full force and effect.
