SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The Department of Community Resources Master Plan is designed to further the goals and objectives of the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan. The Department of Community Resources Master Plan will provide a planning and decision-making framework for the provision of parks, recreation, cultural, and open space services to the Lakewood community. The development of this Master Plan began in 2006 and resulted in an extensive planning process that included an assessment survey, inventory of Department facilities, public meetings, program and service analysis, Planning Commission review, and finally, a Planning Commission Public Hearing. The Master Plan identified a list of goals and objectives for the Department of Community Resources to address over the next five to ten years. The goals and objectives are supported by a Implementation and Action Plan that outlines executable strategies to enhance parks, recreation, cultural, and open space services, and facilities.
