A RESOLUTION
FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE ADDENBROOKE/BELMAR PARK NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN AS AN AMENDMENT TO THE LAKEWOOD COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood Planning Commission adopted the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan on February 19, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood City Council approved the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan on May 12, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan includes neighborhood strength and stability as a major concept of the Plan stating, " Neighborhoods are the building blocks of a community," (p. 19), and "The overall stability and strength of a community depends on the vitality of its neighborhoods. It is therefore imperative that the City of Lakewood continues to make strong and healthy neighborhoods a priority." (p. 19); and,
WHEREAS, residents in the Addenbrooke/Belmar Park neighborhood worked with staff from the City of Lakewood to prepare a plan for the area to address six issue areas: transportation and public works, public safety, land use and property maintenance, parks and cultural resources, economic development, and community participation; and,
WHEREAS, citizens, residents, property owners and others participated in a neighborhood-wide survey, and attended neighborhood meetings to identify issues of concern to the area, and to develop and review goals and strategies to be included in the plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on the Addenbrooke/Belmar Park Neighborhood Plan, with notice made to residents, businesses and property owners in the Addenbrooke/Belmar Park Neighborhood and published in the Newspaper of Record as required by State Statutes; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a regular meeting on the proposed Addenbrooke/Belmar Park Neighborhood Plan, with notice made to interested residents, property owners and neighborhood organizations in the Addenbrooke/Belmar Park neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the public testimony received, the
action of the Planning Commission, and the staff report and recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOVLED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood,
Colorado, that:
SECTION 1. The Addenbrooke/Belmar Park Neighborhood Plan, as presented to the City Council and dated January 14, 2008, is hereby approved as an amendment to the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan.
SECTION 2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to affix their signatures on this Resolution and on the Addenbrooke/Belmar Park Neighborhood Plan as evidence of the approval and adoption of the same by the City Council.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 For and 0 Against at a regular meting of the City Council on January 14, 2008, at 7 o'clock p.m. at the Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
