ORDINANCE: 2008-12
SUBJECT: Granting an easement to The Consolidated Mutual Water Company at the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center for a fire hydrant and related appurtenances at the Northeast corner of the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Dudley Street.
ADDRESS: 1555 Dover Street.
RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends that City Council authorize the granting of the requested easement.
FUNDING SOURCE: CDBG Funding
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood has a sidewalk improvement project that will be constructing new sidewalk along West Colfax Avenue frontage between Dudley Street and Dover Street which will allow safer pedestrian access along the West Colfax Avenue frontage to the recreation center. The construction of this sidewalk requires the relocation of the existing fire hydrant to a different location that will not interfere with the new sidewalk. Due to the relocation of the fire hydrant the City needs to convey an easement to The Consolidated Mutual Water Company so they will be able to locate and maintain the fire hydrant at the new location. The new location of the fire hydrant has been reviewed and accepted by both The Consolidated Mutual Water Company and City of Lakewood staff.
