RFCA-O-2008-8 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2008-8

SUBJECT: Appropriating additional funds and awarding a contract for the redevelopment of Ray Ross Park.

ADDRESS: 680 South Harlan Street

RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends the adoption of this ordinance providing a supplemental appropriation of funds for Ray Ross Park, and to award a contract for said work.

FUNDING SOURCE: Conservation Trust Fund; Open Space Fund; CDBG Section 108 Loan

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: In September of 2006, Lakewood City Council adopted a master plan for the redevelopment of Ray Ross Park. Since that time the Department of Community Resources has been developing construction documents to implement the master plan. In addition, the Department has been actively soliciting funding resources to complete the project.

Additional funding has been secured and bids have been received to complete the project. Now that bids are in hand the additional funds secured need to be appropriated to let the contract. In addition, to the base bid the Department is recommending the acceptance of all the add alternatives except the Skate Park Feature.

The emergency provision is requested for the budget appropriation in order to hold the bid prices and to insure the project is completed in a timely manner.
