Proclamation - Dick Plastino

P R O C L A M A T I O N
In appreciation of
RICHARD J. PLASTINO
In recognition of his conscientious and dedicated
service to the citizens of the City of Lakewood

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lakewood desire to formally express appreciation to Richard J. Plastino upon his retirement after 28 years as the Director of the Public Works Department, including more than three years as the Planning, Permits and Public Works Department Director; and

WHEREAS, Lakewood citizens have benefited from Mr. Plastino's own public service and from his direction and guidance of City employees in capital improvement projects, expanding the City's street repair program, replacing an aging traffic signal system with a state-of-the-art master signal computer, maintaining equipment and vehicles, improving the environment, ensuring safe building construction, and managing snow, ice, floodplains, utilities and traffic; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Plastino's influence has extended beyond traditional public works responsibilities as he contributed to the successful completion of development projects, helped acquire hundreds of acres of open space on Green Mountain, improved or replaced recreation and public safety facilities, acquired and managed water rights to economically and reliably serve several City parks and golf courses, and managed long-range planning of the Rooney Valley; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Plastino's service extended to regional entities as Lakewood's representative to the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District for over 11 years, serving as Chairman of the Board from 1993 to 1995; for 12 years on the board of the Soda Lakes Reservoir and Mineral Water Company; as Vice President of the Agricultural Ditch and Reservoir Company for the past 10 years; and in recent years on the Rooney Valley Joint Project Review Committee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Plastino will be missed because, among other things, he has a great sense of humor, values the contributions of others, and does a remarkable job working positively with colleagues, citizens, Public Works employees and other City staff, and City Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Lakewood, I, Bob Murphy, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim appreciation to Dick Plastino for his 28 years of service to the City of Lakewood and its citizens.
