RESOLUTION: 2007-59

SUBJECT: Resolution supporting a second grant application to Jefferson County Open Space for funding improvements at Ray Ross Park.

ADDRESS: 680 S. Harlan Street, Lakewood, CO 80226

RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends that the City Council approve the resolution supporting a second grant application to Jefferson County Open Space requesting funding to improvements at Ray Ross Park.

FUNDING SOURCE: In the City Budget, improvements to Ray Ross Park are funded from the Section 108 Loan, City Open Space Funds, City Conservation Trust Funds, a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado, and a previous grant from Jefferson County Open Space.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: In 2006 City Council adopted a new master plan for the redevelopment of Ray Ross Park. During 2007, the Department of Community Resources has been developing the construction plans and securing funding to complete improvements. In 2007, Jefferson County Open Space awarded a first phase of grant funding toward the project. This application is a second phase funding request. Both phases of Ray Ross Park improvements will be done simultaneously and the bid will be before City Council during the 1st quarter of 2008.

A support resolution from Council authorizing the grant application is required by Jefferson County Open Space.
