RESOLUTION: 2007-26
SUBJECT: Award of Contract for the E911/Emergency Operations Center/Network Operations Center & Municipal Courts Remodel Projects
RECOMMENDATION:
Public Works recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Tower One Construction in the amount of One Million Six Hundred Ninety Thousand Dollars ($1,690,000.00) for the E911/Emergency Operations Center/Network Operations Center & Municipal Courts Remodel Projects. It is further recommended that 10 percent of the contract amount, One Hundred Sixty-Nine Thousand Dollars ($169,000.00), be authorized by City Council in the event unanticipated work is needed to complete the work scheduled for this project. Total authorization recommended is One Million Eight Hundred Fifty-Nine Thousand Dollars ($1,859,000.00).
This contract with Tower One Construction is only a portion of the total project. Additional project funds will be spent for computer server racks, cooling equipment, moving of equipment from 9001 West Jewell, the E 911 dispatch consoles, cabling and fiber, data switch, EOC computers, projection screens and audio visual equipment, furniture, emergency power backup equipment and other costs associated with the project.
FUNDING SOURCES: Capital Improvement Fund $3,125,000
Police Dept. Communications funds $80,000
City of Wheat Ridge $12,000
Jefferson County E911 Authority $62,700
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
This contract is for construction necessary to relocate the E911 Dispatch Center and Emergency Operations Center from 9001 W. Jewell Avenue to the Public Safety Center, relocate the computer Network Operations Center to support the E911 and Emergency Operations Center and make several space and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) modifications to the Municipal Courts area.
Construction work will include the E911 Dispatch Center, the Emergency Operations Center, the Computer Network Operations Center and a number of ancillary rooms such as radio technician work stations, restrooms, locker room, electrical room, ham radio room, storage rooms and manager and support offices.
The Courts Modifications will enlarge and modify courtrooms to better comply
with ADA, reconstruct seating and work areas and limit public access to offices
of judges and probation officers.
As the attached Bid Summary shows, the low bidder on the contract is Tower One
Construction with a bid of One Million Six Hundred Ninety Thousand Dollars ($1,690,000.00).
Public Works recommends the contract be awarded to Tower One Construction, a
qualified contractor.
