RESOLUTION: 2007-21
SUBJECT: Request to Jefferson County Open Space to add City designated priority parkland to their countywide acquisition priority list.

RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends the approval of a resolution revising the City of Lakewood's determined 2007 priority parkland acquisition for the Jefferson County Open Space countywide priority list.
FUNDING SOURCE: Jefferson County Open Space Program
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: At the March 26th Council meeting, the Council approved Resolution 2007-10 designating the property at 5370 West Ohio Avenue as a high priority for acquisition in 2007. Since that time, an additional parcel north of the field directly across Ohio Avenue was placed on the market and the Department believes that it too is a highly desirable property to acquire.
This additional parcel will provide flexibility in the utilization of the South Sheridan Parcel. It is on Weir Gulch, which is designated for a bike trail in the 2005 Bike Master Plan. Additional funding can be obtained from the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. Additional raw water shares are also available with the second parcel.
Designating this parcel as a high priority and initiating the county acquisition process, will not immediately guarantee the parcel will be acquired for park and open space purposes. When and if the County can come to terms to acquire properties on their list, a resolution will be brought before Council regarding the acceptance of the proposed acquisition.
