REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2007-12

SUBJECT: Adoption of Master Plan for the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center Park

ADDRESS: 1555 Dover Street

RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends that the City Council adopt the proposed master plan for the development/redevelopment of the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center Park dated November 2006.

FUNDING SOURCE: To be determined

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: At the March 5, 2007 City Council Study Session, the Department of Community Resources presented a proposed master plan for the development/redevelopment of the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center Park. The plan indicated the rebuilding and reconfiguring of the park features. The plan includes parking, a restroom / dumpster / storage enclosure for the inline rink, a storage building, two activity pavilions, splash play area, inline rink, skateboard feature, playground, walking path, water quality detention basin, space for a regional storm water detention facility, and security lighting.

The plan was reviewed and recommended for City Council approval by the Lakewood Planning Commission at their February 26, 2007 meeting.

The City Council recommended that the plan be brought forward for formal adoption.
