ORDINANCE: O-2007-24
SUBJECT: Zoning Case Number RZ-07-001
To zone a parcel of land to Planned Development Zone District (PD) in order
to permit construction of St Anthony West medical campus, the Regional Transportation
District transit facility, and to permit future development of the Denver Federal
Center.
ADDRESS: 11600 West 2nd Place
APPLICANT: Michael J. Rock, City Manager
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this zoning request. The Planning Commission by a vote of 7 to 0 at the June 6, 2007 meeting recommended approval of this request to City Council.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The applicant, the City of Lakewood, is proposing to zone approximately 699.8 acres of land, commonly referred to as the Denver Federal Center. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is in the process of selling 65 acres of land to the City of Lakewood through the land disposal process. This land disposal would permit the relocation of the Regional Transportation District (RTD) park-n-ride facility, construction of a new light-rail station, and construction of a new hospital and associated medical buildings for St Anthony West.
At the June 6, 2007 Planning Commission meeting, the Planning Commission recommended approval of this case by City Council. The case is now ready for City Council action. The Planning Commission expects to review Denver Federal Center Master Plan and make a recommendation to City Council on adoption of the Master Plan in late 2007.
