AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT AND THE SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $300,000 INTO THE OPEN SPACE FUND, WHICH WILL THEN BE DISBURSED TO THE JEFFERSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. R-1, TO BE USED IN UPGRADING A GRASS FIELD TO AN ARTIFICIAL TURF FIELD AT LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL; FURTHER APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD AND JEFFERSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO R-1.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Lakewood Home Rule Charter, Section 12.8 the City Council may make supplemental appropriations by ordinance during the fiscal year for unanticipated expenditures required for the operation of the City, provided the aggregate of such supplemental appropriations made during the fiscal year does not exceed the amount by which actual and anticipated revenues for the fiscal year are exceeding the revenues as estimated in the adopted budget, or as such monies not anticipated in the adopted budget may otherwise become available to the City.
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood will act as a pass-through agency for receipt of a $300,000 grant from Jefferson County Open Space to fund the upgrade of a grass field to an artificial turf field at Lakewood High School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado hereby authorizes the City to accept a grant from Jefferson County Open Space for disbursement to R-1 School District in the amount of $300,000.
SECTION 2. The 2007 Revised Open Space Fund budget will be increased by $300,000 and will show a $300,000 expenditure in order to allow for the acceptance and disbursement of this grant award from Jefferson County Open Space.
SECTION 3. There is hereby approved an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of Lakewood and Jefferson County School District No. R-1 for the joint use of sports fields and facilities at Lakewood High School. The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign and the City Clerk to attest, in form approved by the City Attorney, said agreement.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after final publication.

and read on first reading at a regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council
on the 26th day of March, 2007; published by title in the Rocky Mountain News
and in full on the City of Lakewood's website, www.lakewood.org, on the 29th
day of March, 2007; set for public hearing on the 9th day of April, 2007, read,
finally passed and adopted by the City Council on the 9th day of April, 2007,
and, signed and approved by the Mayor on the 10th day of April, 2007.
