The meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Jackie Campeau at 4:10 p.m.

Minutes: The minutes from the last meeting were unavailable as no one could remember who took them. Jackie will put together minutes from her notes and will e-mail them to us for approval.

Announcements: Jackie said that we would save work on the action plan until the end of the meeting so that Harry and Dave could leave. She also announced that we need new candidates for 2007. John Lasswell agreed to be the Secretary, Lisa Thompson was nominated as co-chairman. Lisa was not available to comment on this. Terry is willing to back-up Lisa.

It was asked, "What do we want to accomplish?" A discussion regarding this issue developed. Some people suggested that we go out into the community and give presentations. Jackie stated that this has been done before and every time we reach out we hit a brick wall. Renee asked, "What have we accomplished? Healthy relationship with City Council, improved relationship with the Lakewood Sentinel, Increased the web site, articles in Looking at Lakewood, and we have liaisons to two other commissions.

Harry suggested that we meet quarterly instead of monthly. It was stated that the less you meet, the less energy you have. Edie suggested that the 1st hour be business and the second hour to work on a project. We may miss opportunities if we meet quarterly. In consensus, we decided to meet monthly. Ranee told that she is a member of the S.W. coalition and feels that she has been given the resources and education that she now feels that she is a resource. John explained some of the services provided by the Senior Resource Center provides. Edie suggested an e-mail list to churches and others to get information about resources for seniors out to the public. Everything that goes out from the City of Lakewood needs to be approved by the city. We will ask if we can do this.

Sue King said that she had worked with Royce to register voters at Assisted Living Centers and Retirement Homes and they were warmly received. She wonders if we have ever worked with Total Longterm Care. She also suggested that all the people on the commission explain our area of expertise. This could be a starting point.

John will give us a tour of the Senior Resource Center, 32nd and Chase Street, at our March meeting. A suggestion was made that we meet at different places, such as, Clements Center or the Senior Resource Center. Experience says that it is not good to meet at different places

Jackie asked how we are advertising for the open positions. Edie said that she needs written letters of resignation. Dave asked if the bylaws have a provision for automatic resignation. The bylaws state in lV Membership #D "Membership may be terminated by majority vote of the Commission following three consecutive absences." Terry made a motion to terminate the membership for Darrell Rylatt, Sharon Hubner-Jackson and William Minard. Jackie seconded this motion and it passed by majority vote.
