City of Lakewood Youth Commission Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 16th , 2007

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Dylan Anderson, Rebecca Camper, Sam Facas, Kiersten Jarvis, Anna Nguyen,
Preston Nicholl, Erica Peterson, Sabrina Ruiz, Josh Sylman, Blair Weigum, Michele
Wiechman, Rachel Wiechman, Scotty Wilson
CITY OF LAKEWOOD STAFF: Councilwoman Debbie Koop, Kit Botkins
ABSENT: Amy Kreienkamp, Paulina Pachello
OLD BUSINESS:
* Last month's minutes were approved
* The youth commission is planning to set up recycling bins around the city
of Lakewood and are hoping the project will grow in time.
* The Battle of the Bands will take place some time in May, at the end of the
school year; the Youth Commission decided they would help with it once a year.
NEW BUSINESS:
* Over the summer, the Youth Commission is thinking about putting together a
mock City Council or working more with the Lakewood City Council;
* The Colfax Marathon will be on May 20th and the Youth Commission is deciding
about volunteering again.
* The Youth Commission wants to find a community event for the summer such as
working in a homeless shelter.
* We are working to find new members to replace the many senior youth commissioners.
* Debbie Koop made the suggestion that if anyone on the commission would like
to learn more about the campaign process, they could visit or campaign with
a member of city council.
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, February 20th, 2007 at the Lakewood Link Recreation Center
at 7:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
