A RESOLUTION

ADOPTING A CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS

WHEREAS, The City Council considers it important to maintain a strong sense of confidence in the operations of the City of Lakewood government by the citizens of Lakewood; and,

WHEREAS, the City Manager has recently revised an Administrative Regulation setting forth the appropriate standards of conduct related to solicitations, gifts and donations between City employees and third parties; and,

WHEREAS, the Administrative Regulation does not apply to the City Council and appointed officials; and,

WHEREAS, in order for City Council to enact its own standards of conduct it may do so by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, the Colorado General Assembly has adopted a "Code of Ethics" which is applicable in part to local government officials and is codified as C.R.S. 24-18-101 through 113; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to adopt a Code of Conduct as set forth in the applicable sections of C.R.S. 24-18-101 through 113.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Council hereby adopts as its Code of Conduct for City Council members and appointed officials C.R.S. 24-18-101 through 113, as they exist on December 11, 2006; provided however, Sections 106, 107, 108, 112 and 113 are excluded.

SECTION 2. For purposes of this Resolution, the term "substantial value" shall mean Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or more.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on December 11, 2006, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
