RESOLUTION: 2006-63
SUBJECT: A resolution calling for a Special Municipal Election to be held on January 2, 2007.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution
FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund. Appropriations will need to be made to the City Clerk's budget in the amount of $250,000 to cover the cost of a Special Election.
SUMMARY AND BACKROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: A Referendum Petition regarding Ordinance O-2006-15 was received in the City Clerk's Office on September 8, 2006. The City Clerk has determined that the Referendum Petition is sufficient. It contains the required 2,687 qualified registered electors' signatures to be sufficient to bring the ordinance back to City Council for reconsideration and/or calling for a special election.
In the event that the City Council does not repeal Ordinance O-2006-15, a special election must be held not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days from October 9, 2006. Approval of the attached resolution will set a Special Election for January 2, 2007.
