A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CDOT), GOLDEN AND JEFFERSON COUNTY FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BIKEPATH TO PROVIDE A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE C-470 BIKEPATH AND THE WEST 6TH AVENUE/INDIANA STREET AREA.

WHEREAS, the Lakewood bike trail system can be enhanced by adding a trail connection between the C-470 bikepath and the West 6th Avenue/Indiana Street area; and

WHEREAS, federal funds of $428,000 are available to complete the project with the local contribution estimated at $300,000; and

WHEREAS, Lakewood, Golden and Jefferson County will be co-sponsors of the project equally sharing the local match cost estimated to be $300,000 total; and

WHEREAS, Lakewood administration of the project will be coordinated through CDOT and requires that the City enter into an intergovernmental agreement for the City to design and construct the project; and

WHEREAS, Lakewood will enter into intergovernmental agreements with Golden and Jefferson County for the local match.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, an agreement with the CDOT, in form approved by the City Attorney, for design and construction of the project.

SECTION 2. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to the CDOT in accordance with said contract.

SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and City Clerk to attest to agreements with Golden and Jefferson County with Lakewood in form approved by the City Attorney to equally share the local match cost. Lakewood's share shall not exceed One Hundred Thousand and no/100 Dollars ($100,000) without additional City Council authorization.
