RESOLUTION: 2006-45
SUBJECT: Audit services contract to perform the annual financial statement
audit for the City of Lakewood.
ADDRESS: Finance Department, 480 S. Allison Parkway
RECOMMENDATION: Approval for executing a contract with Swanhorst & Company LLC for approximately $60,000 for one year with the option to renew for four years.
FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund - Finance Department's Annual Budget
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: Swanhorst & Company LLC has served as the financial statement auditor for the City for the past five years. Lakewood City Council has established a Budget & Audit Committee that consists of 3 Council Members and 3 citizen representatives as appointed by the Mayor, with the concurrence of City Council. It is the unanimous recommendation of Council's Budget & Audit Committee that Swanhorst & Company receive a new contract for services for 2006 with the option for four annual renewals. The Budget & Audit Committee considered many factors in this recommendation including Swanhorst & Company's past performance, modest fee increases, and the increased cost to the City that comes with switching audit firms. In addition, the Budget & Audit Committee is confident that the City is receiving audit services from Swanhorst & Company at a high degree of professional skill and competence.
