RESOLUTION: 2006-42
SUBJECT: Setting a special municipal election and authorizing it to be a coordinated election with Jefferson County, Colorado.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: City Council held study sessions on June 5, 2006, and June 26, 2006, to discuss TABOR and a possible election regarding TABOR exemptions. It was decided to bring forth a resolution setting a special election for November 7, 2006. Ballot language will be brought forth in the form of an ordinance with a public hearing set for August 28, 2006.
Due to the deadlines set out in the Jefferson County 2006 Election Calendar, it is necessary to notify Jefferson County by July 28, 2006, if the City of Lakewood will be participating in the November 7, 2006 coordinated polling place election.
