A RESOLUTION

SETTING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR NOVEMBER 7, 2006, TO BE CONDUCTED AS A COORDINATED ELECTION WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lakewood has held study sessions on June 5, 2006, and June 26, 2006, to discuss the Colorado Taxpayers Bill of Rights ("TABOR") and its effects on the City of Lakewood's budget; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has decided to ask the citizens of Lakewood to vote on a TABOR question to exempt grants for parks, open space, streets and public safety.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, that:

SECTION 1. The City Council hereby sets a special municipal election for November 7, 2006, such election to be conducted as a coordinated election.

SECTION 2. The City Council hereby directs the City Clerk to conduct the special municipal election and to perform all duties and responsibilities relating to such election, including signing an intergovernmental agreement with Jefferson County.

SECTION 3. The ballot title for the question shall be determined by ordinance.

SECTION 4. Effective Date. The provisions of this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 8 for and 2 against at a regular meeting of the City Council July 10, 2006, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
