Request for Council Action - R-2006-39 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2006-39

SUBJECT: Authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD) to share the cost of easement and real property acquisition for certain portions of the Tolen Properties on Lakewood Gulch upstream of Kipling Street.

RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends the approval of the resolution authorizing an agreement with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.

FUNDING SOURCE: UDFCD, Jefferson County Open Space and Lakewood Open Space Fund.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: City Council previously authorized acquisition of portions of the Tolen Properties on Lakewood Gulch with the participation of Jefferson County Open Space and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (R-2006-35). The Open Space Advisory Committee has recommended the funding of the acquisition. This agreement is the last needed to fund the acquisition as presented previously.

The total purchase cost for the properties is $730,000. Jefferson County Open Space will participate with $332,500. UDFCD with this agreement will contribute $65,000. The remaining $332,500 will come from the Open Space Fund (COP Savings and attributable share).
