FUNDING SOURCE: Colorado Division of Emergency Management

SUMMARY AND BACKROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The Department of Homeland Security via the Colorado Division of Emergency Management recently awarded the City of Lakewood with grant funds for the purchase of specialized equipment to enhance Lakewood's response to a terrorist incident.

A portion of the grant funding, $59,971, will be used to purchase portable radios that will improve the Lakewood Police Department's ability to communicate with federal law enforcement agencies in and around the Denver Federal Center.
