A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PORTABLE RADIO EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, Section 3.04.070 of the Lakewood Municipal Code requires that any purchase costing $50,000 or more which is not acquired through a competitive bid process be approved by City Council; and

WHEREAS, the Lakewood Police Department's radio interoperability capabilities need to be expanded to include the Federal Protective Service; and

WHEREAS, the City was awarded grant funds for the purchase of police radios and other Homeland Defense related needs; and

WHEREAS, effective communication between the Lakewood Police Department and law enforcement agencies at the Denver Federal Center is a vital public safety concern.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City is hereby authorized to enter into a sole source agreement with Tyco M/A - COM Electronics in an amount not to exceed $59,971.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk to attest an agreement, and such other related documents in form approved by the City Attorney, related to the project set forth above.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on May 8, 2006, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
