REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
RESOLUTION: 2006-30
SUBJECT: Setting a special municipal election and approving it as a mail ballot election.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: City Council held a public hearing on May 8, 2006, to consider the adoption of citizen-initiated Ordinance No. 2006-8, to rezone property known as "Green Mountain Ravine." City Council did not adopt the ordinance and has determined it is in the best interest of the citizens to have the electors of Lakewood vote on such ordinance.
The special election must be held not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days from the time the City Clerk first presented the initiative to City Council. The City Clerk recommends a special election date of June 27, 2006.
