RESOLUTION: 2006-9
SUBJECT: Resolution accepting a Treasurer's Deed for the conveyance of a portion of Washington Heights Park and Arts Center located at 6375 West 1st Avenue, to clear title to a portion of Washington Heights Park and Arts Center.
ADDRESS: Washington Heights Park and Arts Center located at 6375 West 1st Avenue.
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of this Resolution.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: There has been a portion of Washington Heights Park and Arts Center located at 6375 West 1st Avenue, which according to the Jefferson County Assessor's records, was owned by someone else other than the City of Lakewood. This portion of the park remained on the property tax role but the taxes were not being paid resulting in this portion of the park being offered by tax sale. In order to obtain ownership to this portion of the park and at the same time clear the title to the park the City has been paying the property taxes so that we can obtain a Treasurer's Deed, which will give the City clear title to the park. The required time to purchase this portion of the park has passed and the City received a Treasurer's Deed for this portion of the park. The Jefferson County Treasurer executed the Treasurer's Deed to the City of Lakewood on June 1, 2005, and recorded the deed at the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder on June 15, 2005, at Reception Number 2005033021. Now that the City owns this remaining portion of the park a Resolution needs to be passed officially accepting this deed.
