RESOLUTION: 2006-7

SUBJECT: Certify expenditures to, and request reimbursement from, Jefferson County Open Space for improvement expenditures of the Aviation Park.

ADDRESS: 1900 Teller Street, Lakewood, CO

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended City Council authorize the Department of Community Resources to request reimbursement from Jefferson County Open Space, in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for work completed during the period of August 1, 2004 through December 31, 2005.

FUNDING SOURCE: County Open Space Grant

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: In 2004, the City of Lakewood was awarded a grant from Jefferson County Open Space for Aviation Park Improvements. This project completes the overall site improvements including basic grading, street improvements, and underground utilities; an entry plaza with public art; 2,100 linear feet of concrete walking paths; a restroom; a multiuse court suitable for a variety of sports including basketball and roller hockey; a playground; picnic tables and shelter; horseshoe pits; an open field area suitable for casual recreational use; and a wooded nature area with a diversity of identified Colorado-adapted species of shrubs and trees. The Department of Community Resources has completed the Phase I improvements and is now requesting reimbursement.
