RESOLUTION: 2006-6
SUBJECT: Entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for Sidewalk Improvements.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The project will construct sidewalk connecting Belmar Park, which is west of Wadsworth, to Bonfils-Stanton Park. Bonfils-Stanton Park is located along Weir Gulch east of Wadsworth. The walk will cross under Wadsworth using the existing Weir Gulch box culvert, which is located between Kentucky and Ohio avenues. A map is attached.
Lakewood staff submitted the improvements as a Transportation Improvement Plan project through the Denver Regional Council Of Governments and was successful in obtaining federal funds. Lakewood staff will design, acquire any necessary rights-of-way or easements and administer construction of the improvements. It is anticipated that construction will be completed in 2007.
Federal funds totaling $501,000 have been allocated for the project. The City's contribution is estimated to be $215,000 including staff time. The money for Lakewood's share is available from the Capital Improvement Fund.
