SUBJECT: Resolution to Approve Award for Financial Advisory Services

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: In October 2005 Request for Proposals No. 2568 was issued for financial advisory services. A committee composed of staff and individuals from the Lakewood Building Authority, as well as Jefferson County Public Library, reviewed proposals from four firms. Interviews were held and the firm of Piper Jaffray & Co. was selected by the committee to perform these services. The scope of this agreement is to provide independent financial advisory services. These services include, but are not limited to, advice relating to the refunding of Certificates of Participation and the possible undertaking of other financings. Fees are contingent upon the sale and closing of transactions and are variable.
