ORDINANCE: O-2006-35
SUBJECT: Vacation of undeveloped street rights-of-way within recently acquired park property.
ADDRESS: 10th Place between Lee Street and Miller Street.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the ordinance
FUNDING SOURCE: Not applicable
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City recently acquired approximately 7.1 acres of park property adjacent to Sunset Park through funding provided by Jefferson County Open Space. As part of the review process, the Open Space Advisory Committee requested that the City vacate the intervening rights-of-way. The rights-of-way cross a 100-year floodplain and have significant slopes that prevent streets from being constructed in a cost effective manner. All of the property that would benefit from the construction of these streets is now owned by the City as park property.
