Request for Council Action - Ordinance O-2006-23

AMENDED 9/26/06

REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2006-23

SUBJECT: Ordinance vacating Collins Avenue from the west line of Oak Street to a point 405 Feet west of Oak Street.

ADDRESS: Adjacent to 10811 West Collins Avenue.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Ordinance

FUNDING SOURCE: N/A

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Collins Avenue is located between Simms Street on the West and Oak Street on the east in the Lakewood Technology Center. In 2000, a cul-de-sac was constructed on Collins Avenue between Quail Street and Oak Street so that industrial traffic would be discouraged from using residential streets to the southeast. Gambro landscaped the area between two of their buildings in a portion of Collins Avenue between the cul-de-sac and Oak Street. This area has become a security concern for Gambro who would like to be able to control access to this area. In order for this to occur, the right of way must be vacated.

There are utility lines running through this area that will remain. A utility easement will be retained by the City.
