Request for Council Action - O-2006-4 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2006-4

SUBJECT: Ordinance authorizing the City to convey an easement to Public Service Company for a feeder utility line across the Green Mountain Recreation Center property. In order to alleviate power outages to the residents in the neighborhood the Emergency Clause is necessary.

ADDRESS: 13198 West Green Mountain Drive.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this ordinance authorizing conveyance of the easement to Public Service Company.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The residents in the neighborhood of the Green Mountain Recreation Center and Beach Park have been experiencing power outages as a result of a poor feeder line that provides power to these residents. In order to alleviate this problem Public Service has to install a new feeder line between a switch cabinet by the recreation center to a switch cabinet that will be located in Beach Park. The easement is necessary to allow Public Service Company to install the new feeder line across the City's property at 13198 West Green Mountain Drive. Staff has reviewed the location of the feeder line and determined that it is in the right location and will not interfere with the future use of the City land. The ordinance has the emergency clause because the power outages are happening more frequently and will continue to happen until the feeder line has been replaced.
