Meeting called to order by Chairperson, Jackie Campeau at 4:00 p.m.

Minutes: September meeting minutes were reviewed by commission members present. A mention was made by Carolyn and seconded by Terry to approve the minutes without corrections. Motion approved unanimously.

Announcements: Jackie Campeau distributed copies of the updated commission brochure.

Jackie Campeau asked members to review the "LSCAC Committees/Liaison Members and Duties-2005" and update the document for 2006. It was determined that the document should be achieved. The Commission will work from the "Working Action Plan 2006-2007."

Introductions: New commission member Carol Cozart was introduced and welcomed. Introductions were made around the table.

Presentation: Allison Weimar, St. Anthony Hospitals presented information about the hospital health-related programs and classes available to Denver area residents. Allison highlighted class schedules and registration information. Available activities, classes, and lectures and are presented in the Lakewood Heritage Center, Colorado Mills Mall, St. Anthony Central Hospital, and St. Anthony North Hospital.

City Council: None

City Staff: Tami Fischer presented frequently asked questions about "Residences at Creekside"-a new 118-unit of affordable housing community for Seniors (age 62 and over). Tami presented an overview of the project that has an anticipated Grand Opening for April 2007. The project is centrally located at 17th Avenue and Pierce Street in Lakewood.

Cultural Diversity Commission: Liaison Harry Cullis reported that they continue their data-gathering phase of the project-they have completed three dialog meetings and a fourth meeting is scheduled.

Heritage, Culture and the Arts: Liaison Dave Wiechman discussed the many events scheduled.

Lakewood Police Department: Liaison Lisa Thompson met with LPD and discussed an increase in crimes against seniors. She also mentioned that Project Lifesaver continues to be a success.

West Metro Fire Rescue Department: Liaison Jackie Campeau met with the department and discussed their programs and their desire to present a program for the commission.

Citizens for Lakewood's Future: Liaison Carolyn Evans distributed information of a meeting discussing Amendment 38 that will be held at the Clements Center.

RTD: Liaison Terry Ray King reported on a meeting and tour of stations on the RTD Southwest Corridor line scheduled to open November.

Member activities:

John Lasswell reviewed the September 18, 2006 Gubernatorial Forum on Aging Issues held at the Jewish Community Center, located at 350 Dahlia Street.

Carolyn Evans distributed a schedule of three meetings for the St. Anthony Hospitals-Lakewood Community Task Force. The role of the Task Force will be to engage in a dialog with St. Anthony planners about the issues that are of concern to the community. The meetings are scheduled October 24, November 1, and November 15 at the Sheridan Denver Hotel, 360 Union Blvd, Lakewood.

Darrell Rylatt was assigned refreshments for November 2006.

Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by John, seconded by Darrell. Meeting adjourned at 6:00pm.
