P R O C L A M A T I O N
CONSTITUTION WEEK
WHEREAS: The Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law; and
WHEREAS: September 17, 2006, marks the 219th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS: it is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate this cornerstone document with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Lakewood, I, Steve Burkholder, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby recognize September 17 - 23 as
CONSTITUTION WEEK
in the City of Lakewood, and ask Lakewood citizens to learn and reaffirm the ideals that the framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by exercising our civic responsibilities and vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through the Constitution.
