LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL
STUDY SESSION MEETING
AUGUST 21, 2006

ITEM 1 CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Burkholder called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Cabinet Room of the Lakewood Civic Center South Building, 480 S. Allison Pkwy. Lakewood, CO.

ITEM 2 ROLL CALL

Absent: Ray Elliott

Staff in attendance: Mike Rock, City Manager
Roger Noonan, City Attorney

Full and timely notice of this Study Session Meeting had been given and a quorum was present.

ITEM 3 - PRESENTATION - RESULTS OF 2006 CITIZENS SURVEY

Ron Ritschard, City Manager's Office, gave a brief history on the Lakewood Citizen's Survey, stating that City Council has requested the surveys be done on a bi-annual basis. Surveys were conducted in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006. The survey company utilized was National Research Center. Mr. Ritschard introduced Dr. Tom Miller and Paula Nobel of the National Research Center. Dr. Miller gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting some of the results of survey. A question and answer period ensued.

ITEM 4 - OPEN DISCUSSION

Councilman Murphy asked that further discussion take place regarding funding of neighborhood newsletters. City Council were asked to review a grant proposal which was distributed to them and give their ideas and opinions to the Council Officers who will be meeting on September 11th at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the matter.

Councilman Anderson asked if the City could start a program to promote remodeling in older neighborhoods, similar to Northglenn's website which highlights models of existing homes. Mayor Burkholder stated that such a program would be discussed in the near future.

ITEM 5 - REPORTS - MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

Mayor and City Council reported their attendance at previous meetings and events and announced upcoming neighborhood meetings and events.

ITEM 6 - ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the Council; Mayor Burkholder adjourned the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
