IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
"Lakewood
A Community Portrait" Update - Ken Milano
Ken Milano advised that he recently attended a meeting with Jefferson County
Schools administration and Alameda High School. Ken advised them that the Commission
was in the process of doing a series of pilot projects with focus groups in
the high schools. Ken indicated that Jeffco administration was taken aback by
hearing this comment. Ken extended an apology to Jeffco from the Commission.
He then was advised that the district already collects data. Ken will follow
up with Jefferson County Schools administration to coordinate a meeting with
them to discuss the Commission's work and survey. He indicated that the Commission
will follow the appropriate protocol before they proceed any further. It is
hoped that Jefferson County School and the Commission can partner together to
coordinate and support this focus group project in the area high schools.
Ken stated that he is attending "The Future Search Reunion" this
evening at Alameda High School.
"Viable Futures Tool Kit - Renewing Communities for all Ages" Survey
Project
Ken provided a handout regarding a project entitled "The Viable Futures
Tool Kit: Renewing Communities for all Ages" from Kim Buehler from Housing
and Family Services Department. This group is putting together a small focus
group to test their toolkit. Since the Commission on Cultural Diversity is taking
the lead on working toward inclusive communities, Ken asked if a member would
be interested in participating in the focus group.
Chair Nakandakare and Margaret Sawyer will talk directly to Kim Buehler regarding the specifics on this project so that members can get a better understanding before making a commitment.
Colfax Marathon Volunteer Team
Members were advised that the Commission's volunteer team has been assigned
to the Transition 4 location. More details are provided on the website.

Commission decides on a theme for the ethnic entertainment, she will work with
the Commission.
