P R O C L A M A T I O N
In Appreciation of
THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE LAKEWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT
In recognition of their conscientious and dedicated service to the City of Lakewood
WHEREAS, The Congress and President of the United States have designated May 15th as Peace Officers' Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Lakewood Police Department play a vital role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all people living, working, and visiting the City of Lakewood; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens recognize the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their Police Department, and acknowledge the unwavering professionalism and exceptional police services we are privileged to enjoy in the City of Lakewood; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting that we pause to honor our law enforcement officers and all those who, through their courageous deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Lakewood, I, Steve Burkholder, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim appreciation to the men and women of the Lakewood Police Department who exemplify courage, compassion, and professionalism daily as they dedicate their lives in service to others.
