I. PUBLIC COMMENT
No public comment.

II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - May 4, 2005
A motion was made by Commissioner Cullis to approve the May 4, 2005 minutes and was seconded by Commissioner Nakandakare. With all present and voting in favor, THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FOR MAY WAS ADOPTED.

III. COMMISSIONER REPORTS
Partnerships: Commissioner Karen Kellen
Karen encouraged members that were absent last month to read the minutes. She requested that if members who were present last month have any additional thoughts or ideas to discuss them now or contact her so the Commission can start prioritizing what they would like to achieve, where the Commission is going, where the Commission wants to go, and how to get there. Figuring out where we want to go first makes sense.

Events: Commissioner Elzia Sekou
The volunteer sheet was passed around to commissioners to sign up for the Art Experience at Lakewood on Parade on Saturday, August 27, 2005. Commissioner Sekou advised that he has not contacted George Valuck at Alameda Gateway to coordinate the decorating of the float and riding on the float. Elzia stated he would contact George before next month's meeting so he could provide more information on the float.

Awareness Through Media Tools: Commissioner Harry Cullis
No report.

Red Rocks Community College Liaison: Commissioners Cuellar and Roybal
No report.

IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Hispanic Heritage Celebration - Update by Commissioner Sisneros
No report. Commissioner Cuellar advised that he gave information to Guadalupe Sisneros of a bi-linqual improvisational group for the Hispanic Heritage Celebration.

Parent Survey
Chair Lopez distributed the data from the Tally Sheet for Questions to Parents to Commission members. Members discussed the survey information that was given. Therese showed the City Services Directory provided by the City Clerk's Office to members. Suggestions were to provide a pamphlet with the City's basic services at student registration in the schools. Therese will e-mail the directory to Rick and Karen, and they will select what they feel is important information for the pamphlet.

Commissioner Nakandakare stated that these discussions should be really valuable to Commissioner Kellen in regards to the Commission's decision on the direction the Commission takes. This survey is providing information to the Commission, and she hopes that this discussion or the thoughts expressed can be incorporated with some of these ideas and give further direction on providing services. She felt that this is good information from the survey.

V. NEW BUSINESS
Chair Lopez advised that Felix Cook gave his resignation to Rick Lopez as an ad-hoc member. Chair Lopez advised that Will Hardesty gave his resignation to Rick as well.

Survey of Commissioners
At the last meeting, Commissioner Skinner suggested that members give some information about themselves, their individual contacts, and strengths they have in opening doors for or to outside organizations. This would assist the Commission with different partners and at the same time help Karen to determine which partnerships could best support the Commission's efforts.

VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS
The next monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. in the Cabinet Room of the Lakewood Civic Center South Building, 2nd Floor.

The August meeting will be at the Lakewood Library, 10200 West 20th Avenue

VII. ADJOURNMENT
With no further business to come before the Commission, a motion was made by Commissioner Sekou to adjourn and seconded by Commissioner Cuellar. The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
