A RESOLUTION

SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION TO JEFFERSON COUNTY OPEN SPACE REQUESTING FUNDING FOR THE TRAIL CONNECTION IMPROVEMENTS THROUGHOUT LAKEWOOD.

WHEREAS, the Lakewood City Council desires the trail connection improvements to the Bear Creek and Sanderson Gulch Trails for the benefit of the community; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Community Resources is applying for a grant from Jefferson County Open Space for trail connection improvements to Bear Creek and Sanderson Gulch Trails; and

WHEREAS, the proposed projects address goals of the adopted Lakewood Comprehensive Plan and the Lakewood Bike Trail Master Plans to "plan, build, and maintain Lakewood Streets, bikeways, and pedestrian pathways as attractive, accessible, safe public spaces and encourage connections with and usage of public mass transit systems."

WHEREAS, Jefferson County Open Space requires a resolution supporting the grant application from the governing body of the agency applying for the grant.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Lakewood hereby supports the grant application to Jefferson County Open Space for trail connection projects.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council December 12, 2005, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
