REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2005-75

SUBJECT: Entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for improvements on Wadsworth Boulevard at Ohio Avenue.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The project will add a right turn lane to northbound Wadsworth Boulevard for turns to eastbound Ohio Avenue to enhance traffic flow through the intersection. Lakewood staff submitted the site as a Transportation Improvement Plan project through Denver Regional Council Of Governments and was successful in obtaining federal funds. Lakewood staff will design, acquire rights-of-way and administer construction of the improvements. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by the end of 2006.

Federal funds totaling $369,000 have been allocated for the project. The City's contribution is estimated to be $158,000 including staff time. The money for Lakewood's share is available from the Capital Improvement Fund.
