A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE DENVER REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (DRCOG) FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF TWELVE VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGNS FOR MOTORIST INFORMATION AND TWO CCTV SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS ALONG WADSWORTH BOULEVARD, KIPLING STREET/PARKWAY, UNION BOULEVARD/SIMMS STREET, COLFAX AVENUE, AND ALAMEDA AVENUE.

WHEREAS, the roadways listed above provide access to Sixth Avenue (U.S. 6), experiencing congestion when U.S. 6 experiences problems and need to be improved; and,

WHEREAS, federal congestion mitigation and air quality (CMAQ) funds of $67,000 are available to procure equipment with the City's contribution to be installation of this equipment; and,

WHEREAS, administration of the project will be coordinated through the Denver Regional Council of Governments and requires the City enter into an intergovernmental agreement for procurement of variable message signs and CCTV cameras.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, an agreement with the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), in form approved by the City Attorney, for procurement of equipment. The City of Lakewood's cost is limited to installation of the equipment by City forces.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City council on August 8, 2005, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center South, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
