A RESOLUTION

ACCEPTANCE OF BID AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF KIPLING STREET BRIDGE OVER BEAR CREEK.

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation to replace the Kipling Street Bridge over Bear Creek; and,

WHEREAS, by invitation to bid No. 2522, the City of Lakewood advertised for bids for the Kipling Street over Bear Creek Bridge replacement project and bids were opened on March 24, 2005; and,

WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible and qualified bidder was determined to be Colorado Constructors, Inc., which submitted its bid in the amount of Nine Hundred Sixty-seven Thousand Seven Hundred Forty and 95/100 dollars ($967,740.95). Pursuant to City specifications and instructions, the City desires to accept the bid of said bidder.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The bid of Colorado Constructors, Inc. for the Kipling Street over Bear Creek Bridge replacement project as described in Invitation to Bid No. 2522 is hereby accepted according to the specifications as defined in the Invitation to Bid.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk attest a contract with said bidder in form approved by the City Attorney in the amount of Nine Hundred Sixty-seven Thousand Seven Hundred Forty and 95/100 dollars ($967,740.95) and to authorize an additional Twenty-two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty-nine and 05/100 ($22,259.05) for additional work and contingencies for a total amount not to exceed Nine Hundred Ninety Thousand and 00/100 dollars ($990,000.00). The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to Colorado Constructors, Inc., in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on May 2, 2005, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center South, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
