A RESOLUTION

REAFFIRMING THE LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL'S MARCH, 2003 PUBLIC STATEMENTS OF SUPPORT FOR THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE, IN THE PAST, OR ARE CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

WHEREAS, more than 130,000 men and women are currently serving our Country through active-duty deployment; and

WHEREAS, many of these men and women are the sons, daughters, wives, husbands, brothers and sisters of Lakewood families; and

WHEREAS, their service in the protection of the American people follows hundreds of thousands who served before them; and

WHEREAS, each one of these dedicated men and women serve bravely, be it on land, air, or sea, while placed in harm's way; and

WHEREAS, through their training, actions and dedication have guaranteed our continued freedom and the rights of all of us to express our opinions openly and freely.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

1. We respect, honor and support the men and women of our Armed Forces.
2. On behalf of the citizens of Lakewood we express our gratitude to you and your families for your service.
3. We wish you Godspeed and a safe return.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on February 28, 2005, at 7 o'clock p.m. at the Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
